CSL WIRELESS and LAPTOP NETWORK ACCESS INFORMATION
Welcome to the CSL Wireless and Laptop Network!
In order to use the CSL Wireless and Laptop network, you must athenticate
yourself first. This is done in order to allow access yet retain
accountability for your actions.
If you are seeing this page despite attempting to visit another
web site, it is because you are not yet authenticated to the wireless
and laptop network. After authentication, your web requests will no longer be
redirected to this page.
note: In order to access the desired web page, You will most
likely have to reload the url after authentication, because this page will
likely be in your local browser cache.
To authenticate to the network, follow the following instructions:
- Connect to wireless-gw.cs.wisc.edu (128.105.48.1)
using an SSH client.
If you need an SSH client for your computer, we have some you can
download:
- Login using your CS username and password
- You will see a message explaining that you are now authenticated
to the wireless network, and enabled to use it. At this point,
you will be able to access external sites.
- You must leave the ssh session connection open
while you use the network although you may iconize, minimize,
lower, or otherwise do what you like to hide the ssh window
while you work, as long as you do not disconnect the session.
- When you are done using the wireless network, end the ssh session.
