DB2 Information Management software Registering license keys for DB2 Version 9 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows Quick Start Guide This guide tells you how to register the license keys for the DB2(R) products or features that you have acquired. To be in compliance with your license agreement you must register the license key. However, without a registered license key, the product will continue to operate without interruption or restriction. National Language Versions: To see the Quick Start Guide in other languages, refer to the PDF or text file in the readme directory on the product activation CD or from the downloaded electronic image. Overview The license keys and the license agreement for each DB2 product or feature for Linux(R), UNIX(R) and Windows(R) are on the activation CD that is included in the media pack or can be downloaded from the Passport Advantage Web site. You can register a license key from the command line, or using the License Center (Windows and Linux operating systems only). Step 1: Ensure that your DB2 product is installed Your DB2 product must be installed before you register the license key. If your product is not already installed, see the product installation instructions in the IBM product installation manuals or on the IBM Web sites listed at the bottom of this document. Step 2: Read the license terms Make sure that you understand and agree to the license conditions on the activation CD before you register the license key. The license terms are located on the activation CDs in the /db2/license/Windows directory on Windows operating systems or the /db2/license/UNIX directory on the Linux and UNIX operating systems. Step 3: Register the license key You can register the license key from the License Center (on Windows and Linux operating systems only) or by using the db2licm command. To register the license key using the db2licm command from the command line: On Windows operating systems, enter the db2licm command: db2licm -a x:\db2\license\ where x: represents the CD drive that contains the DB2 product activation CD and represents the name of the license key file. On Linux or UNIX operating systems, enter the db2licm command: db2licm -a /cdrom/db2/license/ where represents the name of the license key file for the product. To register the license key from the License Center: Start the DB2 Control Center, and select License Center from the Tools menu. Select the system and installed product for which you are registering a license Select Add from the License menu. In the Add License window, select the directory containing the license file. Highlight the license file, and click OK.
